What do you do?
As an osteopath, I use a variety of techniques. Some are simple movements to articulate joints, adjust posture or massage muscles; some techniques are more complicated cranial techniques which involve very light touch. I also use sports taping and medical acupuncture when I believe it to be appropriate.

How does it work?
Osteopaths use a variety of gentle techniques to promote health, remove obstacles to health, allowing your body to start the healing process.

How much will it cost?
Initial appt: £85 (1hr)
Follow-up appt: £65 (45mins)

Is it dangerous?
No. All osteopaths are registered and have many years of training to make sure that everything we do is safe and appropriate. We also spend many hours studying on courses, in groups and on our own every year to make sure that we are always up-to-date with the latest research, findings and important safety information.

Do you treat babies and children?
Yes I do. Depending on the patient and presentation, I will choose the technique most appropriate. There will never be any strong treatment with children as it is not needed.
N.B. All patients under the age of 16 must have a parent or legal guardian present so they may give their consent on behalf of the child.

Do you have disabled access?
We are on the ground floor but there are some steps to get into the building. Please contact me in advance so that we can discuss suitability of the building.

How long will it take?
Your first appointment will take up to an hour, subsequent appointments will take up to 45 minutes.

How many times will I have to come?
In some cases one or two treatments will suffice, however more complicated or long-term problems may take longer. Some people choose to have an appointment at regular intervals for a 'check-up'.

Can I bring my friend/partner?
Of course! In fact, everyone has the right to a chaperone. If you would like one and do not know anyone in the area, with enough warning, I will endeavour to find a chaperone for you during your appointment.

Will I need to undress?
It is easier to do our assessments and treatments without bulky clothing. We may ask you to undress to your underwear, however, if this makes you feel uncomfortable, you can bring shorts and t-shirt, or other thin clothing with you. Preferably not jeans please!

Will it hurt?
If you are in pain or uncomfortable in any way, let me know and we will either change our method, technique or stop all together. Occasionally some people may find that they ache a little after a treatment, however it is more likely you will feel a little tired.

What if I don't like it?
At any point during your appointment we can stop your treatment, just say the word. All osteopaths need their patient's full and ongoing consent for any treatment. Feel free to ask questions about anything I say or do at any point so that you can better understand your treatment.

If this hasn't answered your question, or if you have any specific requirements, I will do my best to answer any of your queries.
